Tuesday's Tip to bENCOURAGEd...
One of my all time favorite T.V. shows is “Little House on the Prairie”. Maybe it is because I relate to Laura Ingalls as I too lived on a farm and sported freckles on my skin. But I think the biggest reason that I and so many other people related and still relate to this beloved series, that blessed our homes for nine seasons, is because they were inspired by actual journal entries from a real person.
Personal stories always make the best connections.
This is what I teach my speech students each semester. Why? Because stories are relatable, they inform and inspire us like no other form of communication.
Real life stories transcend time. I remember when my daughter read “The Diary of Anne Frank”. She told me that the girl - Anne - was like her although she lived in a different time period, she still dealt with similar day to day issues. My daughter could relate to the girl who wrote the journal entries and therefore my daughter listened to her - gaining understanding and compassion. To this day my daughter has a heart for those who suffered during World War II and a passion for learning more about that time in history.
Why do I share this with you?
Because I believe that you too have a story to tell.
During this season of challenging times we need to encourage each other. But today I want you to bENCOURAGEd to encourage future generations.
How can we encourage others in the future?
We can begin with a letter.
If you were to write a letter to your great grandchild what would you say about the times that you are going through right now?
Remember this is personal - personal stories about what you have been doing each day that you have been asked to stay-at-home, to alter your schedule, to give up some of your freedoms for a cause that you may or may not agree with? It does not have to be long - just from your heart. But remember in your writing to ENCOURAGE, because your words matter now... and later. Your words can help someone

*I encourage you to place your letter in an envelope marked with
“For all (last name) family members” and place in a safe location.
Remember to DATE your letter.
Recently, I wrote a blog called "Little Bites Make You Feel Good". This blog connected with many readers. I believe this is because we all become overwhelmed by too many tasks, projects, and commitments. But whether it is writing a letter to future generations or cleaning out one cabinet we can bENCOURAGEd when we remember to do life in little bites.
