Wednesday's Word of Encouragement

transitive verb

1: to instruct and improve especially in moral and religious knowledge : UPLIFT

Why do people build something?

There are many reasons to build - for financial gain; for status; or for shelter - these are some of the main reasons for building. When we are building up people - with our words - we can influence their finances, position, and security as well.

How do we build up people?

One great way to use edification is to compliment a person to a parent, supervisor, boss, or owner of a company or organization. It is nice to encourage people in their workplace, but when we go one step further and find the person who can increase their pay or position our words of edification can make a huge difference.

But what should we say when we have such an audience?

Here is a great question to ask ourselves…

What would you want someone to say about you in front of

your boss, parent, or mentor?

Barring specifics to your personal situation, most people would welcome compliments in these areas:

  • Communication skills

  • Body language

  • Speed of filling a need

  • Friendliness/kindness

  • Problem Solving

When we give specific compliments to specific people for a specific purpose - we can be sure that our edification will help ourselves and others to be Inspired, be Productive, be Fulfilled ~ bENCOURAGEd!

“Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.”
